| Thursday was Capital Hill Day. First stop was Congressman Pete Sessions TX(5th) office. We met with Jeremy Van Haselen of the legislative office. Then it was time for LUNCH - of course. Subway. We observed a hearing of the House Armed Services Committee at the Rayburn Office building - named after House Speaker Sam Rayburn of Bonham, Texas. There we are next to his statue. More scenes of security precautions around the Capital. Here we see the use of mirrors and bomb-sniffing dogs. We ended our day at the Library of Congress where we perused the "World Treasures of the Library of Congress" exhibit.Our bus pick-up was in front of the Supreme Court building. Then it was on to dinner at Union Station. |
